Schlieren Photography is an event which utilizes the refraction of light allowing density changes in a fluid to be visually amplified. This method is similar to Shadowgraph except it uses mirrors to retro reflect collimated light to illuminate the subject. These changes can then be imaged to test the properties of objects and their interaction with their environment. Show here with the use of the candles, demonstrating how heat rises. The color is achieved by using a specially designed filter which has a small strip of one color with two other colors on either side.
